Mathay health plan for QC

NDEPENDENT QUEZON CITY mayoral bet Mel Mathay Jr. vowed to upgrade the city’s health care program, saying residents can look forward to more benefits when he returns to his former post.

A health card works best with a system in place.

“My opponents keep on saying that it’s just a matter of realigning the budget and giving away cards, but it is not as simple as that. We first need to create a health program designed specifically for Quezon City,” he said.

“We also need to improve the quality of our public hospitals and enter into a mutually beneficial agreement with private medical institutions as well. Because no matter how good the system is, if the accredited hospitals are lacking in facilities, these cards will just be a useless piece of paper.”

“We already have the Quezon City General Hospital in the 1st district, we can partner with FEU-NMRF Medical Center for the 2nd district, the Quirino Medical Center for the 3rd district, and East Avenue Medical Center for the 4th district,” Mathay noted.

“With the right system in place we could even revive the medical assistance program at St. Luke’s Hospital, which is one of the best in the country.”
